Catherine Wheel

The Catherine Wheel was a product of the middle ages, especially popular in Germany. The victim's limbs were crushed with blunt objects. His (or her) still-living remains were subjected to the wheel. This meant the mangled arms and legs were threaded through the spokes. The wheel was then hoisted into the air using a long pole. Hungry vultures and crows picked at the body. Death came slowly.
The wheel was named after Saint Catherine of Alexandria from the early 4th century. She was believed to have been killed in this fashion during the rule of the Roman Emperor Maxentius.

In addition to being well read, she participated in debates with leading members of society, and successfully converted many highly placed individuals to Christianity. As a result, she was condemned to “breaking on the wheel,” a death which involved having one's limbs broken and threaded through an abundantly spiked wheel. The victim would succumb to his or her injuries, but only after several days. However, when Catherine touched the wheel, it broke, and she was beheaded instead.

.....aaaaaaa i ja se iznenadila ..... zanimalo me je sta stoji iza pojedinih pesama pa se bacila malo na istrazivanje pa rek'o da podelim to sa vama ..... e sad da li je Ville bio inspirisan time ne znam ali ovo sam nasla kao rezultat pretrage ..... u svakom slucaju ako nista ono bar je zanimljivo .....

This song was written from a very submissive position. I was in a situation where I had completely fallen for somebody. This is why “These are the things you make me do, Katherine Wheel, I’m burning for you” is one of the keylines of the whole album. The title is a homage to St. Katharina of Alexandria who should have been broken on the wheel but the wheel broke as is generally known. In the end she was beheaded. I like the aspect of rotation about that. The wheel turns like life. In the second verse it says “Holding hands is not enough in a world giving head to a gun.” For me this means that there are no taboos anymore in this world and people are forced to search for ever new extremes to test themselves and to detect the limits of their existance. Take teenagers for example: Smoking pott doesn’t mean anything. In the 80s this was still a taboo. Nowadays the kids take Methamphetamines and do all kinds of crazy stuff. The new Rammstein video is a really good example: It’s really funny but I know a lot of kids who really like Rammstein and they shouldn’t be allowed to see that. As far as I know even some guys in the band have children. Would they really want their kids to see that video? For me this is crossing the line.

Ville je očito veoma horny u poslednje vreme, pa mu i mašta prelazi granice normalnog (jeste da je doduše teško reći šta je "normalno" kad je mašta u pitanju...)

Meni stvarno nije jasno odakle mu inspiracija... a i katherine wheel nije isto sto i catherine wheel... Sveta Katerina je bila mucena na tocku, ali se tocak polomio... valjda je vise na to mislio nego bas na taj princip mucenja... Da je ljudska dusa jaca od bilo cega i da se ne moze slomiti tako lako... bar ja to tako shvatam...
